Review of 'Bitten Shame' by Olivia Hardin

Blurb from Amazon:

Jill Prescott returned from self-imposed seclusion to help save her best friend Devan’s life. Throwing herself into Devan’s problems and bringing an evil organization to its knees might just be the distraction she needs to keep living without the only man she’s ever loved. Her life changed forever when she was hired to spend a week with Doc Massey. On the day she became a vampire her youthful innocence ended, but Doc’s love rescued her from being consumed by the darkness. The shadow of that former life continues to loom over her, keeping her from realizing her own self-worth. Running from her past only brings her closer to a destiny that is inextricably connected to what she is trying to escape…

Every gift has both a reward and a price, because All of it fits…

**My thoughts**

This is the second book in the Bend-Bite-Shift Trilogy by Olivia Hardin. The series had been on my TBR pile for quite some time. Promotional Book Tours had a sign-up to review the third installment in the series, so I had to read the first two books.

You will definitely benefit from reading the first book, Witch Way Bends, prior to this one. This story is a continuation of Devan's quest to avenge the wrongdoings by her father and to keep people from hunting her down. This story focuses more on Devan's best friend Jill. It alternates between Devan and Jill's foray into the faerie world and Jill remembering her past with her beloved Doc and when she turned.

I felt like the book got a little slow as it ebbed and flowed between past and present. However, all of that history is necessary to understand the difficulties that Jill must face while on her quest with Devan. I found the change of perspective in the continuing story to be interesting. Many times people prefer to retell the entire story from a different character's point-of-view. I felt sorry for Jill, being coerced into her new existence and having to make so many difficult decisions.

Devan has made some strides in discovering more about her past. It will be interesting to read the final installment to see what happens!
